The first day of the Costa Daurada Trophy U20 WNT closes with the victory of France and Spain

Salou, November 26, Today, at 12 noon, the “COSTA DAURADA TROPHY U20 WNT” for women’s soccer started with the first match that Germany has faced against France.

The first half ended with the two teams drawing 1-1, goals scored by the German Sophie Weidauer (9) in the 15th minute and by the French Inès Benyahia (10) in the 29th minute. French have taken advantage with the goal of Yrma Mze Issa (12) in minute 81, which has given the victory to the French National team in this first match of the tournament.

In the afternoon we enjoyed the next match Spain against Mexico. During the first half, the score was 0-0, it was in the second half of the match that the Spanish team have won a 4-0 victory over the Mexicans with goals from Ane Elexpuru (19) in the 59th minute, Julia Bartel (10) in the 72nd minute and Carmen Álvarez (15) who has scored the last two goals in the last 8 minutes of the game.

There is still a long tournament ahead and the players will continue to prepare for the next matches that will take place on Sunday and Tuesday, November 30:

“COSTA DAURADA TROPHY” has a “round robin” format where every team in the tournament will face each other.

On the 30th after the last game the trophy entry will be done. Four trophies will be awarded:
– Winning team
– Best player
– Top scoring player
– Best goalkeeper

After almost two years of hiatus due to the global pandemic, “COSTA DAURADA TROPHY” was born with the idea of serving as a preparation for the national teams for the World Cup in Costa Rica that will take place in August 2022.

It was the Mexican National team who contacted the organization of the event to organize a tournament in Europe. France was the first team to confirm their attendance. There have been other teams interested in participating such as Australia and Japan that have not been able TO PARTICIPATE due to flight restrictions of the Covid 19.

Different scouts of international stature have been interested in the tournament and will visit the Costa Daurada, looking for new promises of female’s football.

This tournament is organized by the company Lazz Sports, FIFA Agent for licensed matches and intermediaries and Viajes Velero, an Incoming agency located in Salou.
